ON THE ROAD TO
DATA-DRIVEN SUCCESS

How Core BTS Helped a Leading Automotive Dealer
Cut Analytics Costs by 50% and Boost Performance 10x

Business Situation

As one of the largest privately owned car dealership groups in the United States, New Jersey-based Holman Automotive has 40 dealership franchise locations from the East Coast to the Pacific Northwest, representing 20 different vehicle brands.

The family-owned company, with more than 9,000 employees, has a mission of providing its customers with the industry’s best automotive-related services and experiences. However, to continue delivering on that goal into the future Holman Automotive needed a cost-effective data analytics solution to match its demands.

Holman’s existing solution within Microsoft Azure was not performing as well as its dealerships needed it to, and the company was seeking outside guidance on how it could get more savings and better results from its analytics.

Our Solution

To solve the various data-related issues involving cost and performance of its current analytics platform, Holman Automotive turned to our experienced team Core BTS for answers.

We got to work on three related projects. First, our team set out to migrate all of Holman’s data from disparate locations across the country to a singular, unified location in the cloud.

Next, we built out the reporting for Microsoft Fabric to replace the current memory database. With Fabric weaving multiple Microsoft tools together, the new platform would allow Holman to streamline its data and analytics workflows companywide.

As a third step, our engineers at Core BTS developed a proof of concept using Databricks and Fabric that would cut data costs and enhance overall performance for Holman. This solution included generating significant improvement time savings by reducing the latency in data reporting that the company was currently facing.

The Results

By optimizing Holman Automotive’s data platform, Core BTS reduced its analytics costs by more than 50 percent and saw at least a tenfold improvement in overall performance.

Moving forward, Core BTS continues to support Holman Automotive on an array of technological fronts. Our team also remains engaged in discussions with the company about how Holman can leverage additional tools, including those involving Artificial Intelligence, to mine deeper insights, drive greater innovation, and extract maximum value from data to stay on the leading edge of the automotive industry for years to come.
